York River Public School, located in the south end of the town of Bancroft, serves approximately 210 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6. After their Grade 6 year, students from YRPS transition to North Hastings High School for grades 7-12.
At York River Public School we have "I Can Attitudes". Students and staff at YRPS work together to inspire learning and provide authentic experiences for all. The school has many regular classroom amenities and spaces - some as unique as a Design and Technology classroom and a Learning Commons. In addition, York River offers Special Education classrooms - RRP (Regional Resource Program), an ECPP class (Education Community Partnership Program), an Extended French Program for Grades 5 and 6, a daily breakfast option, as well as an after-school program sponsored by North Hastings Children's Services. The school is next door to the North Hastings Community Centre, and accesses the facility for a number of school-related events throughout the year.
